By July 3, 2019News

On July 25, 2019, Dr. Roza Pati hosted a round table discussion on human trafficking with a delegation hailing from various countries of Latin America. The delegation consisted of federal and state prosecutors, investigators, immigration officials and journalists that were invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, as part of the program on Combating Human Trafficking: A Regional Project for the Western Hemisphere.

This project inter alia aims at: reviewing the U.S. government strategies to combat international trafficking in persons; examining the roles that government, law enforcement, the courts, and local organizations play in detecting, preventing, and prosecuting crimes; exploring initiatives to recognize, protect, and assist victims of abuse and trafficking; investigating international law enforcement cooperation in trafficking in persons cases. The Global Ties Miami that accompanied the delegation thanked the Academy for the cooperation and for the “informative and excellent meeting,” which was greatly enjoyed by the delegation.
